Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
The short version
Jargone is a translation service. You send us a document, an AI model reads it, and we send you back what it says in plain words.
We keep your uploaded document only long enough to translate it, and delete the uploaded files as soon as your translation is created. Everything we hold sits in Singapore, where we are. We do not sell your information to anyone. We do not want your bank or account details and we ask you not to send them.
The rest of this page is the same thing in full.
Who we are
Jargone is operated by Something Labs Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202022449E), a company registered in Singapore at 278 Ocean Drive, #02-24 The Coast @ Sentosa Cove, Singapore 098450 (“Jargone”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Our Data Protection Officer is Cristina Ruggeri. For any question about this policy or about your information, write to privacy@somethinglabs.ai.
What we collect
- The documents you upload. Whatever file you send us to be translated, and anything the AI model extracts from it in order to write the translation. A document can carry personal details printed on it, such as your name or a reference number; we process those only because they are part of the document you asked us to translate.
- Your email address. So we can send you the translation and, if you buy an annual pass or sign in, so we can recognise you. There is no password: signing in works through a link we email you.
- Your sign-in record. If you sign in, we keep a record of each link we sent you and of the session it opened, so we can tell your browser from anyone else’s.
- Your consent choices. Which permissions you gave us, the exact wording you agreed to, when, and whether you asked for occasional news by email.
- Profile answers. Three non-financial questions (who the document is for, your comfort with technical terms, and whether you have an upcoming meeting), used solely to adjust the reading level of your translation, and cleared once your translation is delivered.
- Payment information. Handled by Stripe, which sells to you through Link, its seller-of-record service. Stripe tells us that a payment succeeded and how much it was. We never see or store your card number.
- Technical information. IP address, browser type, and basic usage events. This is used to keep the service working and to prevent abuse.
- Nothing else. We do not ask for your age, income, occupation, family situation, financial goals, risk tolerance, what you own or what anything is worth. We do not need this to translate a document and we deliberately do not collect it.
What we ask you not to send
Please do not upload bank statements, account summaries, portfolio valuations, holdings lists or anything showing your balances or what you own.
We screen uploads for these and stop before processing when we detect one. If a personal account document reaches us anyway, we delete it and do not process it.
The reason is both practical and legal. We do not need that information to translate a document, and processing it would change what our service legally is.
Special categories of information
A medical document can reveal information about your health. In the UK and EU this is special category data under Article 9 of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. We process it only because you have explicitly asked us to translate that document for you. That explicit consent is our legal basis, and you can withdraw it at any time by writing to us.
Why we process your information
- Your document: to produce the translation you asked for. Legal basis (UK/EU): performance of a contract.
- Health information in a document: to translate a medical document you chose to send. Legal basis: explicit consent, Article 9(2)(a).
- Your email: to deliver the translation and service messages, and to sign you in if you have a pass. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Your email, for occasional news: only if you ticked that box. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time from your account page or by writing to us.
- Your sign-in record: to keep your account yours and to spot misuse. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and legitimate interests in security.
- Payment records: to take payment and meet accounting obligations. Legal basis: contract, and legal obligation.
- Technical logs: to keep the service running and prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Anonymized product data, if you separately opt in: product-level facts (fee percentages, terms, product type) with nothing that identifies you, kept to improve how we read and explain documents. Legal basis: consent, separately given and separately withdrawable.
How long we keep things
- Your uploaded document: deleted as soon as your translation is created, and immediately when an upload is refused by our screening.
- Your profile answers: cleared at the same moment your files are deleted. We do not keep a profile of you.
- Your translation (the plain-words text and the figures extracted to build it): kept so you can come back to it through your link or your account. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Your email and consent record: kept so we can show what you agreed to and when.
- Your email, for occasional news: used until you turn it off. Turning it off is recorded, not deleted, so we can show that you did.
- Sign-in links and sessions: a sign-in link stops working after 15 minutes or once it has been used. A session ends 90 days after your last visit, after a year at the latest, or the moment you sign out. The record that a link was issued and a session opened stays with your account.
- Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Technical logs: kept briefly for security and debugging, then deleted.
Who else touches your information
We use a small number of service providers. Each is bound by a written agreement, may only act on our instructions, and may not use your information for their own purposes, with the one exception named under “AI and your document” below.
- Moonshot AI Pte. Ltd. (the Kimi model): reads your document and writes the translation. Moonshot AI is a Singapore company and stores the information it receives on servers in Singapore.
- Supabase: stores your files and records, on servers in Singapore.
- Vercel: runs the website and the application. Our application runs in Singapore; Vercel is a US company.
- Stripe: takes payment and, through Link, is the seller of record for your purchase. It handles the tax, your receipt, refunds and card disputes.
- Resend: sends our emails to you, from its servers in Japan. Resend is a US company and keeps its own record of what it sent in the United States.
We will update this list whenever a provider changes. If you want to be told when it changes, write to us and we will add you to the list.
We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or pass it to anyone who wrote the document you uploaded. We take no money from product providers, insurers, lenders, utilities or anyone else whose documents we translate.
AI and your document
Jargone works by sending your document to an AI model, which reads it and writes the translation.
The model is Kimi, made by Moonshot AI Pte. Ltd. Moonshot is a Singapore company and stores what it receives on servers in Singapore. We name it here because you should know whose model reads your document, and we will tell you here if it changes.
Moonshot may use what it receives to improve its own models. Their developer terms allow that, and we have not signed an arrangement restricting it. Most of what Jargone translates is a document a company published or sent you: a fact sheet, a policy, a tariff, a notice. A bill or a notice carries your name and a reference number, because that is what a bill looks like. If you would rather a document was not read by a model that may learn from it, do not upload it.
The model can be wrong. It can misread a figure, miss a clause, or state something too confidently. Your translation is a reading aid. Keep the original document.
Where your information goes
Your document and your translation are stored in Singapore, the AI model that reads your document runs in Singapore, and the application itself runs in Singapore. Our team administers the service from Singapore.
Two things leave Singapore. Your payment details go to Stripe, which processes them under its own privacy policy. The emails we send you go through Resend, whose record of them is held in the United States. We put contractual protections in place with every provider that touches your information.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold, correct anything wrong, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, take it elsewhere in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, or your national data protection authority in the EU.
If you are in California, you can ask what we collected and why, ask us to delete it, ask us to correct it, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right exists. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in Singapore, you can ask for access to your personal data and for correction under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, and you can withdraw consent.
Everywhere: write to privacy@somethinglabs.ai. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are before we act, which usually means replying from the email address you used.
Children
Jargone is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Jargone, write to us and we will delete the record.
Security
Files are stored in a private bucket with no public access. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. Every translation is reachable only through a link sent to your email address, or from your account once you have signed in with that address.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we will tell you and the relevant regulator within the time the law requires.
Cookies
Jargone uses only the cookies needed to run the service. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
If you sign in, two cookies keep you signed in. One holds your session and cannot be read by scripts on the page. The other only tells the page that you are signed in, so it can show your account link. Both last up to a year and are removed when you sign out.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email everyone with an active translation and post the change here with a new date. Older versions are kept and available on request.
